Commitment Policy

Players and parents must be fully committed in order to achieve the full potential of a team. With the commitment placed by other members of a team, it is expected that in the summer, soccer will take priority over other sports so the team does not suffer. The following is a list of commitment standards that need to be taken into consideration:

  • Tier I soccer is the most intensive and competitive level of soccer in the province.
  • The highest level of commitment for players and their families is necessary to achieve team goal.
  • Goal of a Tier I team is to advance to their highest potential in a team environment; winning a Provincial Championship and may advance to a National Championship. Tier I Provincials occur in late August. It is important that players participating at this level be available during this time.
  • Attendance at games, practices and tournaments is mandatory unless prior arrangements are made and approved by the coach.
  • Teams train (2) two times per week in addition to regular league games.
  • Tier I players may lose their position on the team as a result of lack of commitment.
  • Players who will be away for vacation for more than 2 weeks will find it difficult to meet the commitment required.
  • Final team selection can be made up to SNS registration date of June 15.
  • There are no guarantees of equal playing time. Playing time is at the discretion of the coach.
  • Tier I teams play in the Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL). League games are held throughout the province and will involve travel as far away as Cape Breton. League games are usually scheduled on weekends but some games may be played through the week.
  • Tournament costs are not included in the registration fees. Tournaments fees, travel and accommodation are the responsibility of the team, players and their family.
