Team Official Application Info
The Highland Knights strive to provide each team with a group of team officials that will challenge and motivate players to excel in the sport of soccer and teamwork. Coaches are selected through an open application process, with final selection based on desire, skills, training, experience, and proven track records. Each team will also normally have an Assistant Coach, and we also strive to provide each team with a team manager who can help out the coaches by managing the many administrative related team tasks, allowing the coaches to focus on coaching, not paperwork. Coaches will be expected to commit to a weekly practice and a weekend game typically on Sunday afternoons. Tryouts are coordinated by Shawn George (HDSA Technical director) and team coaches and begin in September-October at the indoor complexes. Teams are expected to be finalized no later than mid October. Games begin in early November with league games played in the Highland region (Stellarton or Truro) note: exception is away game in Bridgewater and Kentville). Practice times/days will be determined once the team is selected based on the demographics of the team, but will normally be held between the two complexes on weekday evenings. Note that players will also be expected to a club run 'skills' session once a week that coaches are not required to attend but are welcome to be part of. The Club does provide a financial stipend to coaches to help offset travel costs. Coaches are required to possess Canadian Soccer Association Community Coaching Certificates, and must provide the club with a CPIC (police background checks) report every two years. Note that there will be a 'Pre B' coaching clinic held in Stellarton in late November, as next summer all Tier I coaches are required to possess a 'pre-B' certification. If you have an interest in joining our teams as a coach, assistant, or manager, click here to download a Team Official Application Form (Adobe Acrobat PDF file). Complete the form and either fax or mail it to us as instructed on the form. Alternately, you can send us an email at admin@highlandknights.ca outlining your interests. |
