Memorandum of Association


The name of the Society is: Highland District Soccer Association

 

The objects of the Society are:

(a)          To serve as the member District in Soccer Nova Scotia for member Clubs and their players in the Highland Region (said region defined as Cumberland, Colchester, Pictou, Antigonish, and Guysborough counties in the province of Nova Scotia);

(b)          To support a regional Player Development Model and a Technical Director position for member Clubs that will provide local and regional training and skills development opportunities for all players within the Highland region;

(c)          To provide opportunities and promotion of Coach Development within the Highland region for the purpose of providing all member Clubs and regional training programs with the highest possible quality of coaches;

(d)          To provide opportunities and promotion of Referee Development in liaison with local Referee Associations for the purpose of training and retaining quality game officials to support all member Club competitions.

(e)          To provide Administrative Support Services to all member Clubs in the Highland Region, including, but not limited to communications, player registration, financial services, bulk purchasing;

(f)           To work with member Clubs in acquisition, development, and management of soccer Facilities (Indoor and Outdoor);

(g)          To work with member Clubs in developing and coordinating a competitive soccer framework, including League play, to serve as a player development environment for Tier I, Tier II, Senior A, and Senior B team players;

(h)          To hire and manage Paid Staff members as deemed required to support the objectives of the Society;

(i)            To acquire by way of grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise or otherwise, real and personal property and to use and apply such property to the realization of the objects of the Society;

(j)            To buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell and convey such real and personal property as may be necessary or desirable in the carrying out of the objects of the Society.

 

Provided that nothing herein contained shall permit the Society to carry on any trade, industry, or business and the Society shall be carried on without purpose of gain to any of the members and that any surplus or any accretions of the Society shall be used solely for the purposes of the Society and the promotion of its objects, more specifically, all of its objects will be carried on through volunteer and non-profit means.

 

Provided, further, that if for any reason the operations of the Society are terminated or are wound up, or are dissolved and there remains, at that time, after satisfaction of all its debts and liabilities, any property whatsoever, the same shall be paid to some other charitable organization in Canada, having objects similar to those of the Society.

 

The activities of the Society are to be carried on in Cumberland Co., Colchester Co., Pictou Co., Antigonish Co., and Guysborough Co. in the province of Nova Scotia.
