Clive Wilkinson, president of the Sault Soccer Association, spoke to City councillors about the need for an indoor soccer facility in Sault Ste. Marie.
Council approved a $40,000 grant to kick-start a possible indoor soccer facility at Strathclair Farm.
The money will be used to conduct a feasibility study and develop a business case for the proposed structure.

On June 24, SSMarie Croatia advanced to the round of 16 with a big win over an Ontario Soccer League Team, Oakville Velebit, in Oakville.
At Karlovac Park, the Soo took a 1st half lead on a goal by Misko Hairlahovic. Then half way through the 2nd half Karl Trost with a great shot put the Soo ahead 2 - 0.
Then with 12 minutes left, Oakville Velebit were given a penalty, & scored. Velebit tried to tie the game late, but the great defense of Soo Croatia preserved the win > 2 - 1.
The Soo team, had originally beat Sudbury Adria on June 3, in Sudbury, 4 - 0 .
Now, the Soo Croatia team has to travel again, this time to Hamilton to play Hamilton Serbs. This game is tentatively scheduled for Sunday July 8, but may be rescheduled for July 15.

SSMarie Croatia will play a quarter final game Sunday July 8 at 1:00 pm at McMaster University, Hamilton against Hamilton Serbia.
